If you're unsatisfied with your look because of dark spots or sun damage on your skin, you may be a great candidate for intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy at Defying Time. A photofacial with IPL is a rejuvenating treatment for pigmentation concerns. Our practice uses intense pulses of light energy to ignite the body's natural regeneration process and boost collagen production. As the added nutrients take effect, you should begin to notice a healthier appearance, a more even complexion, and fewer spots. Not only can this treatment produce amazing results for your skin, but it's also completely noninvasive. Our Willow Park, TX team utilizes the Alma Harmony XL PRO laser to carry out IPL treatments and can offer you a skin analysis to see if this solution can help you reach your skin goals.

How much does IPL cost?
The cost of a photofacial can vary from patient to patient, as every person's skin is unique. Defying Time may offer monthly specials from time to time, and we accept a selection of payment options. At your initial visit, we can help estimate the cost of treatment based on your complexion and recommend how many sessions are required to match your goals.

How quick are the results from IPL?
Many of our patients notice visible improvements following their first Harmony XL PRO IPL therapy session, but optimal results will become apparent about a month following your last treatment. It is common for your skin to see different responses following every session. You will most likely have an incremental improvement in redness, blotchiness, age spots, and sun spots as time goes on.

What are the possible side effects of IPL?
It's common to experience some minor, temporary side effects, such as redness, swelling, blisters, bruising, or crusting. These symptoms go away in a few days. The treated areas will be photosensitive, and you should keep in mind that excessive sun exposure can affect the results of the procedure. You should also wear sunscreen to protect your skin and help prevent skin issues, such as redness and sun spots.

Do I need to prep for IPL?
To prepare for IPL therapy, Willow Park, TX patients are typically asked to avoid self-tanners and sun exposure for at least 2 – 4 weeks prior to the procedure. You should discontinue the use of certain medications and topical creams, like Retin-A, a few days prior to your treatment, and we may recommend that you avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood thinners for one week before your appointment to help prevent developing bruises. You should also use sunscreen between sessions.

Why should I get multiple IPL sessions?
Multiple IPL treatments with Harmony XL PRO are recommended to provide gradual, natural-looking improvements to the quality of your complexion. Every treatment helps to diminish the appearance of surface irregularities and spots. A series of treatments also allow for longer-lasting aesthetic improvements.
